One of the most rewarding experiences a group can have is volunteering
together on a Habitat house. There is a tremendous spirit of
community fostered between individuals when building a home for a
struggling family.
Scheduling a work group depends on the
availability of work site space and operating funds to purchase
materials. At some point in the future, we plan to be able to
schedule your group online, but at the moment, you will need to be
in touch with Robert Reeves at 727-536-4755 or
via e-mail.
In the meantime, here are some guidelines to remember:
- Volunteer workdays are on Wednesdays and Saturdays, between 8am and 3pm.
Special workdays can be arranged.
- We will schedule your group and assign a jobsite depending upon
availability and construction activity.
- Groups are limited to 12 volunteers per job site, unless a
special arrangement is made.
- A Volunteer Group Information Form will need to be completed and
on file in the office.
- A Volunteer Response Form will need to be signed by each volunteer
and returned to the office.
- No alcoholic beverages are to be brought to, or consumed before
or during volunteer hours.
- For safety reasons, no one is allowed to bring young children.
No one under 14 is permitted on the job site (this is for insurance
purposes).
- Attire should include comfortable clothing, heavy-soled shoes
(no open toes permitted), sunscreen, insect repellent, work gloves,
and a hat (for sun protection, if desired).
- We have tools that can be used on the jobsite; however, if
someone prefers to use his/her own, it is advisable to mark them
with the last name.
- Please consider carpooling as there is limited parking at the
home sites.
- Plan to bring lunch and liquid refreshments for your group, or
make sure that each one is prepared to bring his/her own or has
money to go out to lunch. Water is provided on site.
