SuperBuild

"Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County has earned its third consecutive 4-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances.  Only 11% of the charities we rate have received this rating, indicating that HfHPC consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America." -- Ken Berger, President & CEO Charity Navigator

Our Mission: Putting faith into action, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County promotes family stability by providing innovative and affordable housing solutions to qualified individuals and families. In partnership with our community, we work toward our ultimate goal of eliminating substandard housing throughout the county.

2 More Families in Homes
We celebrated the Ruckers (sponsored by Valpak) and Mitchells (sponsored by Episcopal Deanery)

On Saturday the 27th, two families got their keys. The Rucker home was dedicated in honor of Dorothy Gilliam's 90th birthday!

EVER BEEN TO A HOME DEDICATION??
The dedication of a home is the most exciting part of the Habitat for Humanity program. It is at this ceremony that the family receives the keys to their new home. An opportunity for all the volunteers and sponsors to come check out the completed home, the event is open to everyone, especially those who wish to find out what Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County is all about.

We Still Need Your Support Locally!
Heard about the $100 million planned gift for Habitat International?
Find out what it means for Habitat Pinellas.
We applaud the generous gift planned to be made by Mr. Terwilliger, a Habitat for Humanity International (HfHI) board member. Although HfHI has already considered many viable ways of distributing these funds, we want to guard against an incorrect impression in our own community that the result of this gift is that our local efforts will be fully funded. Consider this...
  • This is a legacy gift. - This money will not be immediately forthcoming. (Of course, we wish Mr. Terwilliger a long, wonderful life.)

  • Would HfHI divide this among the 1,500 U.S. affiliates? - Although it has not been determined how  the $100M donation will be allocated, there has been discussion about earmarking $30M for U.S. building efforts and $70M for building homes in other countries.  An even distribution of the $30M would result in $20,000 per U.S. affiliate, which is less than half of the amount necessary to construct a U.S. Habitat home.

  • We raise all our own funds to build here AND overseas. - Habitat Pinellas does not receive funding from HfHI. In fact, we send 10 percent of our funds to HfHI as part of our affiliate contract. This money, called tithe, goes toward constructing homes in other countries. To date, Habitat Pinellas has constructed 165 local homes with volunteers and our partner families and 152 homes through the tithe.

  • The need in our community, unfortunately, is great. - If you are interested in helping to house families right here in Pinellas County, please consider volunteering or donating directly to our local affiliate. Tonight 440 children will go to sleep in Habitat Pinellas homes their parents built. So many more children are waiting for their opportunity.

Operation REhabitat
Making positives strides in a down economy, Habitat starts rehabilitating distressed properties
The Peterson family is excited to have moved into their home, but this home is a little different than most. Instead of being built new, the St. Petersburg home was purchased as a distressed mortgage property. Volunteers helped bring the house back to life. Now the neighborhood has a new homeowner, and this Habitat family has a safe, decent place to live.
